Relationships

Close relationships define our day-to-day life and contribute significantly to our well-being. I offer relationship therapy guided by principles of Gottman Therapy and Emotion Focused Therapy.

Couples may benefit from therapy if relationships are exhausting or painful, when its hard to “turn towards” each other, or when there are high levels of negative feeling, criticism, contempt, defensiveness or stonewalling.

Relationship therapy involves 2-3 initial 90 minute appointments, coupled with at-home assessments completed in your own time. Sessions then typically take place weekly to fortnightly. Relationship gains are best achieved with a moderate length of intensive therapy, so couples can expect to develop the skills to maintain a healthy, loving, nurturing and solid relationship over the course of 6 months to a year.

While relationship therapy is an investment, both financially, and of your time, it is highly likely to be effective and to benefit individual family members.

I have also worked extensively with parents and children, as well as providing peri- and post-natal psychological support. I have an attachment theory focus and am able to offer practical, compassionate support to parents and children as they negotiate relationships, manage new-born care (e.g., including feeding and sleeping) and build a nurturing home environment for healthy families.
